Why has Google ended support for Chrome on Microsoft Windows 7, 8, and 8.1?

This decision is in conjunction with the release of Chrome version 110, which will only be compatible with Windows 10 or later. Prior to this change, Chrome version 109 will be the last version to support older versions of Windows.

What can I do if I’m using an older version of Microsoft Windows?

This move by Google is being described as “sunsetting” support for these older operating systems and users are being encouraged to upgrade to Windows 10 in order to continue receiving new Chrome releases and security updates.

Conclusion

Microsoft, the company behind Windows, stopped supporting Windows 7 three years ago and ended support for Windows 8 in 2016. Support for Windows 8.1 will also end on January 10th, 2023.
